Scholarships

Here are the scholarships available for the 2017-2018 year.

 

Glenn A Butler Leadership and Service Award

The Glenn. A Butler Leadership and Service Award is designed to recognize outstanding leadership and service of a University of Florida on-campus resident. Applicants for the Glenn. A Butler Leadership and Service Award must be a full-time student in good standing with the University of Florida; must have achieved a high academic success (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA upon application); demonstrate outstanding leadership through residence all involvement, exemplify community service through the completion of 20 hours of service at the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank (or UF Food Pantry), and be returning as an on-campus resident in the fall of 2018.

A committee composed of students and Residence Life Professional staff will select the recipient. The recipient will be awarded at an appropriate banquet for the recipient. This award does not come with a financial scholarship at this time.

Kelly Martz Scholarship

The Kelly Martz Scholarship is designed to recognize and reward outstanding leadership and scholarship of a UF DOHRE student-leader or student-staff member. Applicants for the Kelly Martz Scholarship must be an active representative of an AG, IRHA, NRHH, SAB or staff; must be a full-time student in good standing with the University of Florida; must have achieved a high academic success (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA upon application); must be directly involved in residence hall activities and have made outstanding contributions and must be returning to the University of Florida in Fall 2018.

A committee of the four sitting presidents of said organizations: IRHA President, SAB President, NRHH President, and Murree Area Council President will select the recipient: these four individuals are ineligible to apply. The recipient will be awarded the $500.00 scholarship during the annual IRHA Spring Banquet. The scholarship must be used toward the payment of education expenses incurred as a student attending the University of Florida and will disperse Fall 2018.

Bodner/Faircloth Scholarship

The Bodner/Faircloth Scholarship is designed to recognize and reward outstanding leadership and scholarship of a member of the Inter-Residence Hall Association (IRHA). Applicants for the Bodner/Faircloth Scholarship must be an active representative of the University of Florida IRHA; must be a full-time student in good standing with the University of Florida; must have achieved a high academic success (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA upon application); must be directly involved in residence hall activities and area/hall government, and must  be returning to the University of Florida in Fall 2018.

A committee compose of Department of Housing and Residence Education professional staff and representatives from IRHA will select the recipient. The recipient will be awarded the $2,000.00 scholarship during the annual IRHA Spring Banquet. The scholarship must be used toward the payment of education expenses incurred as a student attending the University of Florida and will disperse Fall 2018.

Rob Holland

The Rob Holland Scholarship recognizes and rewards and IRHA member not on the IRHA Executive Board who is actively involved with IRHA and the campus community; completes volunteer service in the Gainesville Community; and demonstrates Gator and Community Spirit. Applicants must be active IRHA members; full-time students in good standing with the University of Florida; and be continuing residents living on campus the following fall semester (Fall 2018). The application criteria reflect Rob’s love of UF, Gainesville, community involvement, and photography.

The selection committee is composed of one Department of Housing & Residence Education professional staff member and 4 representatives from the Inter-Residence Hall Association appointed by the IRHA president. Members of the selection committee are ineligible to apply for the scholarship. The recipient of the $500.00 scholarship will be announced at the annual IRHA Spring Banquet. The scholarship must be used toward the payment of education expenses incurred as a student attending the University of Florida and will disperse Fall 2018.
